The First Episode of 2025
Welcome to 2025! Dr. Ed and I are back for our first podcast of the year, ready to dive into what’s been happening at Moved Academy and Movement Ayahuasca. Life moves fast, but we’ve got some significant developments to share.
Bringing Movement Ayahuasca and Moved Academy into Academia
Introducing our work into the academic world is one of the most exciting things happening this year. Dr. Ed has been working on a research paper to establish more scientific credibility for our Moved Academy methodologies. This is a big deal because it bridges the gap between practical application and scientific validation.
The paper dives into torque chains, a concept we use to understand how movement patterns influence the nervous system. These chains help us access different nervous system states through movement, improving physical performance and nervous system regulation. While widely understood in practice, this concept hasn’t been well-documented in scientific literature. By publishing this paper, we aim to create a new dialogue between movement specialists, breathwork practitioners, medical professionals, and researchers.
Why This Matters for Coaches and Clients
This academic validation will provide extra confidence for the coaches we train and the clients we work with. We already have a 96% success rate with our assessments, which is huge. This means that over a six-to-eight-week period, our approach leads to long-term solutions rather than just quick fixes. The research hub we’re building will document these results in a way that integrates objective science with practical application.
Upcoming Retreats and Events
This year is packed with Movement Ayahuasca retreats and Moved Academy programs:
Portugal Movement Ayahuasca Retreat – Pending final confirmations, but likely to be documented with a media crew.
Bali Movement Ayahuasca Retreat in August – Bringing the experience to a new setting.
Moved Academy Immersion Week – A hands-on experience where participants learn to coach and apply our methodologies directly.
Being back in California has also been an interesting shift for me. After spending eight years away, I’m re-exploring the fitness and wellness industry here. The market is saturated, especially in Southern California, but that just means there’s an opportunity to stand out by offering something truly unique.
Addressing Chronic Pain with Swami and Movement
One of the most rewarding things we’re doing right now is working with clients who have complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). This condition is typically diagnosed when all other explanations fail, and conventional medicine doesn’t offer much hope beyond pain management.
We recently started working with a woman who had been struggling with CRPS for four years. After a Swami breathing session and specific movement protocols, she had the best night’s sleep she’d had in years, and her pain levels dropped significantly. Over the next six weeks, we’ll continue working with her twice a week with targeted exercises and homework to help her regain safety in her body and build stress resilience.
CRPS is defined as an inflammatory and autonomic nervous system dysfunction. If there were ever a solution, it would be precisely what we offer—breathing and movement that restore coherence across the body’s systems. Our work helps people shift from chronic stress and hypervigilance into a state where healing can occur.
The Search for the “Authentic Self”
A big discussion point lately has been the idea of the “authentic self.” People are obsessed with discovering it, but I see it differently. I think this pursuit has become a way for people to find belonging in a world where spirituality and community have been lost.
Rather than focusing on some idealized version of an “authentic self,” I believe in observing our feedback loops—understanding how our behaviors, traumas, and learned survival mechanisms shape us. The key is recognizing when there’s a mismatch between how you instinctively want to act and how you actually behave in social settings. Movement and breathwork help bridge that gap, allowing people to reconnect with a more intuitive, balanced version of themselves.
2025: The Year of Expansion
This year, we’re making big moves—expanding into research, refining our programs, and reaching more people than ever. Whether it’s through Movement Ayahuasca, Moved Academy, or individual coaching, the goal remains the same: helping people break free from chronic pain, stress, and limiting patterns through breath, movement, and nervous system regulation.
Stay tuned because this is just the beginning of what’s coming in 2025!
